The Long-Term Care Practice Manual

How It Started

The Long-Term Care Practice Manual is a practical introductory guide to the practice of Long-Term Care Medicine. It is based on my own Geriatric Medicine practice which has evolved over the past seventeen years into a very unique, satisfying and lucrative business.

In June of 2007 I wrote about my practice and won honorable mention in the Medical Economics Magazines writing contest. I was surprised to have my article recognized, but was even more surprised when I started getting e-mails from doctors just like you. Want to read the article? Follow this link...

How it Began: 10 Reasons I See Only Nursing Home Patients

I heard from several doctors who were looking for a more satisfying career, freedom from managed care and control over their lives. Some wanted to work part-time, some wanted to be their own boss. Some just hated their jobs and wanted to try something new. I had the idea of publishing a practice manual for several years, but now had the incentive to complete it.

Initial Reaction Was Supportive and Encouraging

I slowly began to sell my manual to those physicians who first asked for help. I held my breath as I waited for the response. To my delight it was very positive and warm. I had hit a nerve. These doctors were hungry for more information that wasn't out there, until now. Here is what some of them had to say...

The Long-Term Care Practice Manual Testimonials

I still get e-mails from that initial article, from doctors disenchanted with their present practice situation who never even heard of a Long-Term Care practice. To them it is like a breath of fresh air. Others, who have heard about “nursing home” practices, had misconceptions about the doctors and the type of medicine practiced in Geriatrics/Long-Term Care. They too were pleasantly surprised to hear that nursing homes aren't snake pits and Geriatric Medicine is a board recognized sub-specialty of Internal and Family Practice Medicine.

The Long-Term Care Practice Manual is written to introduce you to the world of Geriatric Medicine as practiced in the Long-Term Care setting. It shows you how to pick from the many types of practice models available. You will learn how to start, market, grow and maintain a practice in the area of medical practice with the highest level of job satisfaction of ANY medical specialty. Need I say more?
