Geriatric Medicine and Long-Term Care Media Exposure

My first written media article proves there is interest in Geriatric Medicine. I wrote it for the Medical Economic Magazine's writing contest. It received an honorable mention and was published in June of 2006. I received e-mails from several curious doctors contemplating working in Long-Term Care. To this day I still get inquiries based on this first article. See what you think, click on this link to read it.

10 Reasons I See Only Nursing Home Patients

The next article is about customer service and working for success. It not only applies to Geriatric Medicine, but any other medical practice or business for that matter. I learned many tips the hard way, by making mistakes. The rest I learned from successful people around me, most of which weren't doctors. I hope it helps you. The Secrets to My Success

This interview is the most recent media addition and was a result of my very first article above. I was honored to be asked to provide the kick off interview for a new series on ReachMD Radio.

The series Advances in Long Term Care Medicine is produced in cooperation with the American Medical Directors Association (AMDA), the only national organization representing long term care physicians and professionals. This series addresses the most relevant clinical and practice management issues facing those working in long term care settings.

I was thrilled to be interviewed by one of the top Geriatric Specialists in the country Dr. Eric Tangalos.

Dr. Eric G. Tangalos is professor of medicine at the Mayo Clinic and was chair of primary care internal medicine from 1997 to 2006. He is a past-president of the American Medical Directors Association (AMDA) and is a fellow and past governor of the American College of Physicians. He served eight years on the national board of the Alzheimer's Association and has had continuous NIH funding for his work at the Mayo Alzheimer's Disease Center since 1986. Dr. Tangalos has been medical director at Bethany Samaritan Heights nursing home since its doors opened in 1981. He is also vice chair of the AMDA Policy Committee and is again delegate to the AMA for AMDA.

I enjoyed doing it and hope it gives you a little insight into me and my practice. Click on this link to hear the interview. You will be asked to register for ReachMD. It's free and is an extremely useful resource.
